The celebrations start at 6 PM
Whole day of endless fun
Bitter-sweet last day with good byes
"Each pushpanjali offered is a silent prayer, whispered across continents, hoping Maa Durga's blessings reach our loved ones back home."
"The sindoor khela, a joyous riot of color, leaves its mark on our hearts, a bittersweet reminder of the farewell to the goddess and the longing for the next homecoming."
"In every bite of bhog, we taste not just the flavors, but the love and traditions passed down through countless Pujas, a legacy we carry within us."
"As the last strains of the dhunuchi naach fade, a poignant silence falls, filled with the unspoken hope of returning to the land where Durga Puja truly comes alive."
We are a group of families who deeply miss the warmth and vibrancy of Durga Puja, prompting us to create our own celebration right here in Millburn/Short Hills. As we navigate our lives in the distant home away from home, we yearn to recreate the cozy atmosphere that filled our childhood memories during this beloved festival. This started with a philosophy of having a homely non-commercial get together and will always remain the same.
"We light the diyas not just to illuminate the goddess, but also to spark the embers of memories, keeping our cultural flame alive in a foreign land."
Our gathering is more than just a celebration; it’s a heartfelt attempt to weave together the threads of our shared heritage and culture. We want to bring back the joy of togetherness, the laughter of friends and family, and the delicious aromas of traditional dishes that remind us of home. Also, most importantly expose the next generations to our rich cultural heritage.
Our Objectives -
Bring a close knit set of families to celebrate Durga Puja together.
Organize cultural programs.
Organize a small informal Pujo.
Get the children & parents to interact and share ideas on culture, tradition and history.
Be sustainable and earth friendly
Have fun!
Participation is by invitation only.
In addition, we acknowledge that some friends may want to join Sindoor Khela and Pratima Darshan. For those, we will open the doors on the 3rd day, Oct 13th from 4pm to 5pm. They can bring their own Puja Thali for the Sindoor Khela and Dasami Puja.
